CYBA DESIGNER WATER COMPETITION:

GOING GREEN TO SAVE THE BLUE

Untitled design-2.png

We are acutely aware of the severe consequences of plastic waste in the marine environment, which is vital for the success of the show. One significant contributor to this pollution is plastic water bottles. However, there is a simple and effective way we can all contribute to preventing these bottles from ending up in the sea: by producing and serving our own filtered drinking water on yachts, for both clients and crew, and eliminating the use of plastic bottles altogether.

Naturally, the drinking water must meet the highest standards of safety, taste, and presentation, just like the yachts themselves. For several years now, the Charter Yacht Brokers Association has been promoting and organizing Designer Water Contests at yacht shows in the BVI, USVI, Antigua, and Greece. This contest not only brings fun and excitement but also emphasizes the importance of the cause. Many crew members, not just chefs, enthusiastically participate, resulting in innovative and delicious drinking water creations. Let your imagination run wild and craft a refreshing, health-enhancing, lightly flavored drink that your guests will happily enjoy instead of relying on imported mineral waters in plastic bottles, which have a high carbon footprint. By doing so, you can differentiate your yacht and add another compelling selling point for chartering.

All CYBA brokers fully support this initiative and pledge to promote the concept in their client preference sheets, ensuring that clients are aware of why they are being served filtered water from the yacht. Charter guests have shown remarkable support for this movement to help rid the oceans of plastic. We would love to see all charter yachts, their captains and crews embrace this program. The contest is open to all yachts, requires less time than the Chefs' Competition, can involve all crew members, and is significant for all of us.
